Dental crown Process

Consultation and preparation

Each dental crown begins with a consultation and exam at the Dental Image’s relaxing and judgment-free Crown Point offices. There, you’ll meet with our smile restoration specialists, who will take digital x-rays to determine what kind of treatment will best meet your needs.

Once it is determined that a dental crown is the best path for you, our dentists will numb the area around the tooth with topical anesthesia and reshape the tooth to be able to receive its dental crown. Once that’s done, your tooth will be digitally analyzed and a dental crown will be made that fits its shape at a dental lab, which will take some time to arrive. During that time, a temporary dental crown will be put on the tooth to protect it and let you get used to the feel of the tooth.

Dental Crown Implantation

Once the long-term dental crown arrives from the lab, you will return to Dental Image to have it implanted on the tooth. Your dentist will talk with you to make sure the fit was ok and that everything worked to your satisfaction. If everything checks out, the long-term dental crown will be affixed to the tooth in question.

Recovery and Aftercare

Following your procedure, you will have some soreness. Your Dental Image specialists will provide you with a recovery timetable for your specific surgery, along with when you will be able to eat certain foods and return to normal care.

Once your recovery is complete, you will be able to maintain your dental crown with proper dental hygiene, just like any other tooth! Dental crowns typically last anywhere from 5 to 15 years. So, if you’re ready to make a change to a smile that lasts, please come see us. Our smile restoration specialists would love to bring back your beautiful smile!
